Press Release: A Breakthrough Weekend for 2rt.studio in San Francisco
Marking a major moment for 2rt.studio, the 2025 San Francisco Art Fair offered an opportunity to introduce our works to a vibrant and engaged audience. From April 17 to 20 at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion, Booth F29 became a hub of activity, drawing the attention of collectors, curators, and creatives eager to engage with the studio’s bold approach to interactive, tech-driven art.
The booth featured lenticular works by Ruoyun (Dry) Dai, Eli Joteva, Meltem Şahin, and Shuwan—each inviting viewers into dynamic visual experiences where motion effects are embedded within 2D physical material, eliminating the need for screens. These pieces captured attention not only for their formal innovation but also for their ability to transform static viewing into an active, multi-sensory encounter.
Also on view were 2rt.studio’s recent explorations in AI-enhanced textured printing and embedded Augmented Reality, technologies that extend each work beyond the frame—activating video overlays and encouraging direct interaction. This ethos of interactivity runs through all of 2rt.studio’s work, challenging the traditional boundaries of viewership and fostering a more participatory relationship between audience and artwork.
Creative Director Ruoyun (Dry) Dai’s Liminal series captivated viewers with black-and-white lenticular animations that shift visually with perspective—expressing emotional and psychological transitions through optical refraction. Additional highlights included:
Eli Joteva, Cascading Entropy: Matilija Poppy
Raw data from a California Poppy decays through algorithmic processing—revealing genAI’s paradoxical creative power alongside its environmental cost. The piece responds to viewers’ body movements, inviting reflection on individual agency within technological systems.
Meltem Şahin, Post-Symbolic Communications
A visual choreography of mood swings, movements, and shifting emotional states during lockdown. This work explores the body’s relationship to others in constrained, digital-heavy contexts.
Shuwan, Untitled
This work trains AI on the artist’s glitch art, generating evolving images that trace machine learning. It probes how AI interprets their aesthetics and envisions future photographs, interrogating visual standards through algorithmic lenses
Collectively, the presentation demonstrated how digital and generative practices can be reimagined in material terms—transforming movement into tactile objects that shift and respond to the viewer, and rethinking the interface between technology and spatial experience.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who visited the booth and engaged with the work. Your thoughtful questions, enthusiasm, and support helped shape this milestone into a meaningful exchange.
2rt.studio will continue to push the boundaries of visual expression through innovative techniques and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Stay tuned.
